Foamex vs Aluminium dibond – what’s the difference?
We use Foamex and Aluminum Dibond for creating sign boards, and they have several differences:
-
Material: Foamex is made of PVC foam, which is a lightweight and affordable material that is ideal for indoor use. Aluminum Dibond is made of two thin aluminum sheets with a polyethylene core, which makes it more durable and weather-resistant.
-
Durability: Foamex is not as durable as Aluminum Dibond and can be easily damaged by scratches, dents, or impact. Aluminum Dibond, on the other hand, is more resistant to damage and can withstand harsh weather conditions such as rain, wind, and UV rays.
-
Weight: Foamex is lightweight and easy to handle, making it suitable for indoor use and temporary signs. Aluminum Dibond, on the other hand, is heavier, which makes it more suitable for outdoor or long-term signs.
-
Printing: Both materials can be printed on, but Foamex is more suitable for high-quality digital printing as it provides a smooth and even surface. Aluminum Dibond is more suitable for printing using UV inks, which provide a high-quality and durable finish.
-
Cost: Foamex is less expensive than Aluminum Dibond, making it a good choice for budget-friendly or temporary signs. However, if you need a durable and long-lasting sign, Aluminum Dibond may be a better investment in the long run.
In summary, Foamex is a good choice for temporary, indoor signs, while Aluminum Dibond is more suitable for outdoor or long-term signage that requires durability and weather-resistance.
